Dragon Ball FighterZ – a short review

spoilers for the game ahead, turn back now if you don’t want the details!

The newest game in the Dragon Ball Franchise – A stunningly smooth and beautiful arcade fighting game

Dragon Ball FighterZ is a arcade fighting game developed by Arc System Works and Published by Bandai Namco. It runs on the Unreal Engine, which is responsible for some of the most amazing moments in this game as shown below –

The game’s animations are exceptionally smooth, with a balance of detail and speed that pleases the eyes.

A roster of new and familiar characters from the Dragon Ball Franchise

FighterZ presents the player with a variety of characters – each with their own unique playstyles and movesets. Those who love fighting or Dragon Ball games will be enchanted by the roster of familiar and beloved warriors from the anime.

This includes the main characters of the show – the iconic duo of Goku and Vegeta – as well as other notable antagonists(and sidekicks) in the franchise.

FighterZ also features a completely new character – Android 21. Designed by the series’ creator Akira Toriyama himself, she is currently the endgame antagonist of story mode . She is only playable in her majin form(unlocked by completing the entire story).

Currently, the roster for the base game is made up of 24 characters, out of which 3 have to be unlocked by specific means.

A vast combat system, alongside convenient controls

With every character having their own unique skillsets and combos, players can be assured that no two fights will ever be the same. The beautifully fluid combat system makes for some stunning and exhilarating combos like these.

The controls are relatively easy, and only the quarter-circle combos can be difficult to pull off. They are quite newbie-friendly, regardless of whether you’ve played a fighting game before or not.

The ultimates and finishing animations

However, one of the things that stand out the most in this game are the ultimate attackswhich are mostly taken directly from the anime itself. These qualify as mini cut-scenes in their own right, due to the sheer amount of detail and effects put into them-

and last but not the least, we have dramatic finishes. These are one of the main highlights of the game. If a character defeats someone in a specific arena, while satisfying any other conditions, they will begin to play.

These are some of them. Impressed?

That being said, this brings us to the end of the review. Criticism would be appreciated since this is my first post.
